On Friday, October 9th the Housatonic Museum of Art presents the latest film in their FREE Friday Night Flicks online film series: “Nothing Changes: Art for Hank’s Sake.” The documentary chronicles the daily life of Hank Virgona, an 87-year-old artist in New York City who is grappling with aging, change, and capturing the real faces of New York City life.

Housatonic Community College Launches ‘Housatonic Helps’ Initiative

Four years ago Felisha Guirand-Fleurimond, Recruitment and Retention Coordinator for our Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (AMTC), came to Housatonic as a Data and Reporting Specialist on a one-year grant. Since then, she has built a deep appreciation for the field and discovered her passion for working within diverse groups.

For college students on tight budgets, money management is a priority. That’s why Patriot Bank, N.A. has extended its partnership with Housatonic Community College (HCC) and its Foundation to help students become as smart about their money as they are about their studies, through the creation of a new financial literacy website, workshops and educational panels.

On Friday, September 18 treat yourself to a double feature of art-inspired filmmaking. Watch “IRWIN – A New York Story” and enjoy the story of legendary cartoonist Irwin Hasen, who was among the first group of artists to shape comic book culture. Then, “A Story In Stone” centers on the studio of Bridgeport artist and printmaker James Reed and his master work with stone lithography. Six outstanding Housatonic Community College (HCC) leaders were chosen to attend the Connecticut Change Leadership workshop program. The program, which will be held virtually next month, and facilitated by the University of Texas at Austin Charles A. Dana Center, is a professional development opportunity open only to nominated Connecticut State Colleges & Universities (CSCU) community college leaders.

On Friday, September 11 watch “The Collector,” a film presented online by the Housatonic Museum of Art, and prepare to be amazed at the enormity of famed New York City gallery owner Allan Stone’s personal collection. Floor to ceiling, his home is bursting with treasures from his more than 50 years of collecting.
