The Housatonic Museum of Art (HMA) today announced a landmark gift of $500,000 from the Werth Family Foundation. The donation represents the largest contribution from a single donor in the history of the museum to date and will establish an endowment.

The Housatonic Community College (HCC) Foundation was recently awarded a $15,000 grant from Bank of America to help support the community college’s Advanced Manufacturing Program, which trains and helps place women in manufacturing jobs.

Professor John Favret credits a Certificate in Computer Graphics from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) with opening ‘all doors in life’. Prior to that certificate, John had earned a BA from Bridgewater State College and an MFA from East Texas State University, and worked at Sears in retail displays and management.

Last month, after more than five decades of service, Professor Edward Keane, Ph.D. retired from Housatonic Community College (HCC). The esteemed faculty member’s 51-year tenure spanned nearly the entirety of the college’s existence.

Bridgeport celebrated Juneteenth as an officially observed federal holiday at the 29th Annual Juneteenth Parade & Harambee Festival last Saturday. At Seaside Park crowds gathered to celebrate, and among those was Housatonic Community College’s CEO Dr. Dwayne Smith, who was invited to be a marshal at the event.

Housatonic Community College (HCC) is leading the way in suicide prevention training across the state. With a goal of reducing suicidal behaviors and saving lives, the college began offering training to its faculty, staff and students throughout the 2020-2021 academic year. Last Friday, HCC expanded its efforts by providing suicide prevention certification training to community college educators and administrators throughout Connecticut.

Each year students from Housatonic Community College (HCC) enjoy the opportunity to travel internationally and earn college credit. This year, amid Coronavirus, scholars went to Honolulu, HI where they presented at the 10th annual STEM-STEAM and Education Conference

Broad Street in Bridgeport has a new look thanks to a series of banners that celebrate the City’s rich history. Ten colorful banners, designed by Bridgeport middle school students, honor Bridgeport’s seaside village known as Little Liberia.

Members of the Housatonic Community College (HCC) Class of 2021 celebrated their graduation on Thursday, May 27 when the college held its 54th Commencement Exercises at Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, CT.

A lifelong New Englander, Professor Matthew Dunne joined Housatonic’s full-time faculty in 2015 after a stint as an adjunct professor at Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield, CT, his hometown. His journey to HCC began as a teaching assistant while earning his M.A. and Ph.D. at Brown University, and later as a visiting assistant professor at his alma mater, Stonehill College.

On May 27, at the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, CT, Housatonic Community College will proudly celebrate the accomplishments of 565 potential graduates. The graduation ceremony will be particularly special this year because the event will take place in-person – the first time the class has been together in over a year
