Patriot Bank & Housatonic Community College Partner To Help Connecticut Students Build Money Management Skills
For college students on tight budgets, money management is a priority. That’s why Patriot Bank, N.A. has extended its partnership with Housatonic Community College (HCC) and its Foundation to help students become as smart about their money as they are about their studies, through the creation of a new financial literacy website, workshops and educational panels.
Four years ago Felisha Guirand-Fleurimond, Recruitment and Retention Coordinator for our Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (AMTC), came to Housatonic as a Data and Reporting Specialist on a one-year grant. Since then, she has built a deep appreciation for the field and discovered her passion for working within diverse groups.
An exhibition of artwork by the founders of the Op Art movement is now on view at the Housatonic Museum of Art. The exhibit, entitled “Masters of Op Art,” features 13 dynamic pieces that are each an optical experience of color and form.
On Friday, October 9th the Housatonic Museum of Art presents the latest film in their FREE Friday Night Flicks online film series: “Nothing Changes: Art for Hank’s Sake.” The documentary chronicles the daily life of Hank Virgona, an 87-year-old artist in New York City who is grappling with aging, change, and capturing the real faces of New York City life.

HCC’s Accelerated Sterile Processing Technician Program Celebrates First Graduating Class
On Wednesday, October 14th Housatonic Community College (HCC) celebrated the graduates of its first-ever accelerated Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) program. Ten former hospitality and service workers whose jobs were displaced by Coronavirus entered the no-cost pilot program last month to quickly retool their skillsets and match in-demand job opportunities in the healthcare field.

October is National Manufacturing Month, and as the home to over 4,400 manufacturers, Connecticut is a center for manufacturing innovation. To help grow the talent pool for this key driver of our state’s economy, Housatonic Community College’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (AMTC) program prepares the next generation of workers with substantial backing from community partners.
The Housatonic Museum of Art announced today the opening of an exciting new exhibition, “Photorealism: Fixing the Fleeting Moment.” The show features nine images by artists whose work helped define the art movement, including Robert Bechtle, Charles Bell, John Baeder, and Arne Besser.
