On June 25, at the Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center, Housatonic Community College CEO Dr. Dwayne Smith will be honored at the 8th annual “100 Men of Color Black Tie Gala and Award” event. The ceremony recognizes the contributions of men of color in business, education, entrepreneurship, entertainment, government, and public service that have had an impact on communities throughout the State of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts.

Housatonic Community College (HCC) is easing food insecurity among its students thanks to the creation of a new food pantry. An initiative of the Housatonic Community College Foundation, the pantry recently received a $15,000 grant from Fairfield County’s Community Foundation (FCCF) in support of this effort./h2>

Housatonic Museum of Art is pleased to present its newest exhibition, Of Woman Born, now on view through June 1, 2022. It features a selection of paintings, photographs and sculpture that explores the ways in which male dominance has manifested itself in familial, social, legal, political, religious and economic systems—patriarchal structures that, over the centuries, have continually been used to dominate, oppress and exploit women.

Housatonic Community College (HCC) held its 21st annual Sidewalk Art Festival yesterday. The event, originally planned to be held outdoors in the college’s downtown Bridgeport campus courtyard, included students, music and creativity.

To say that Professor Pam Pirog is an active member of the HCC community is an understatement. In addition to teaching entrepreneurship and accounting courses, she serves as the coordinator of entrepreneurial education, partnering with local colleges and organizations. She is the coordinator of HCC’s VentureLab and SCORE office, is co-coordinator of the HCC Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Center and has held the position of the Business Department’s Department Chair.

This spring, the Housatonic Museum of Art (HMA) invites educators and families to connect with art, architecture, and local history in the distance-learning adapted HMA Student Docent program: See, Think, Wonder: Bridgeport!

Celebrate Earth Day this year with an award-winning film: The Biggest Little Farm. The law firm Berkowitz and Hanna has donated $2,000 to the Housatonic Community College Foundation’s Student Emergency Fund to help students persist and meet their needs during the pandemic.

Housatonic Community College (HCC) is celebrating Earth Day (April 22nd) with a series of engaging activities throughout April, all designed to raise our collective environmental awareness. Initiated by HCC’s STEAM Center of Excellence, with significant support from Pitney Bowes, Avangrid, and Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Company, the lineup of fascinating events creates a month-long lesson on protecting our planet.

Adam Scobie’s manufacturing career began at age 15. His dad, HCC Instructor George Scobie, owns MRH Tool in Milford, and would pay Adam to run some of the machines.

Housatonic Museum of Art is celebrating Women’s History Month with a collection of enlightening online documentary films that explore the messages women receive, the pressures they face, and those fighting for women’s rights in America. The FREE films, organized by Connecticut Film Festival, will run from Sunday, March 21 through Thursday, March 25.
