On Wednesday, May 4 Housatonic Community College (HCC) invites the community to the 22nd annual Sidewalk Art Festival. The free event is an area favorite, taking place from 11am – 2pm in the college’s courtyard.

A variety of artists will display their unique talents using only chalk media. Graffiti artists, performances by Live World Band, spin art, food and refreshments add to the festive atmosphere.

Housatonic Community College (HCC) showed its support for the environment with an outdoor Earth Day celebration on Thursday, April 21. The annual event offered students, faculty and staff hands-on opportunities to renew their respect for the planet.

On Saturday, April 23 Housatonic Community College (HCC) will host a fundraiser for Ukraine featuring a craft fair, art auction and culturally immersive event.

Currently on exhibition at Housatonic Community College is a wide variety of work by full- and part-time art faculty members. The show is entitled ‘Portes Ouvertes’, or open doors in French, to reflect that the COVID shutdown is largely ending.

An opening reception was held on April 5 in the Burt Chernow Gallery, located in Lafayette Hall on the Housatonic Community College Campus. The exhibit features the work of 17 artists, and will offer a range of artwork, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, digital, and installation.

Evie Gard entered Santa Monica College as a young mother with three children. Like many of our Housatonic students, she would work and take care of her children during the day and take classes at night. Evie’s dedication to her education allowed her to transfer to Mount St. Mary’s University where she earned her B.A. in liberal arts.

Housatonic Community College (HCC) and Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) are pleased to announce a new partnership that will allow HCC students to earn a SCSU bachelor of science degree in Healthcare Studies without leaving the HCC campus. A memorandum of understanding signing took place with leaders of both colleges yesterday, March 23, 2022, at HCC in Bridgeport, CT to formalize the agreement.

In a press conference held yesterday at Housatonic Community College (HCC) in Bridgeport, Connecticut, administrators, educators, staff, and students joined Congressman Jim Himes (CT-04) in announcing that HCC has been awarded $1 million in federal funding to support the college’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center.

As the risk of food insecurity among college students is on the rise, Stop & Shop is taking steps to fight back locally with continued support for the Housatonic Community College (HCC) School Food Pantry. The supermarket giant recently donated an additional $10,000 to assist the HCC food pantry in helping food-insecure students with nutritious food options and basic necessities so they can stay focused on their education.
