Perfect For Spring: HCC Dean Writes Book About Gardening for “New Bees”
Just in time for National Gardening Week, Housatonic Community College’s Dean of Academic Affairs Robin Avant has published her first book, The Spirit of Gardening: Gardening for New Bees The Life Revealed Through Gardening! The 139-page beginner’s resource is a guide, reference book and a collection site for the ‘new bee” gardener.

Excellence In Teaching: HCC Professor Recognized With Multiple Prestigious Awards
The Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) Board of Regents for Higher Education recognized Housatonic Community College (HCC) Assistant Professor Kristen Carley with two Excellence in Teaching awards. Carley is among eighteen CSCU distinguished faculty members named as recipients of the annual 2019–20 Board of Regents Faculty Awards.

Dwayne Smith, PhD Appointed CEO of Housatonic Community College
The Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education announced the appointment of Dwayne Smith, PhD to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Housatonic Community College. The announcement was made during the open session of the May 14 Board meeting, which was held virtually and attended by over 320 faculty, staff and students from the twelve Connecticut Community Colleges.

She will identify and secure state, federal, and private grants to advance the mission of the College and support the goals and objectives of the College's Strategic Plan.

Housatonic Museum of Art Receives Gift of More Than 600 Contemporary Photographs Ranging from Iconic to Everyday
The Housatonic Museum of Art announced today that it received a donation of 615 photographs by nine contemporary artists, including pieces by well-known sports photographer Walter Iooss Jr. and photojournalist Peter Turnley.

COVID Can’t Stop The Arts: Virtual Student Art Show at HCC
For the first time in its history, the Housatonic Community College (HCC) Student Art Show adopted an online-only format. Typically held in the school’s Burt Chernow Galleries each spring, the Art Department created an innovative virtual exhibition while the college’s campus is closed due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Housatonic Community College Innovates Virtual Entrepreneurship Competition During COVID-19 Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic could not stop Housatonic Community College (HCC) from hosting its annual Elevator Pitch Competition. In keeping with the mandate for social distancing, the competition was moved to a first-ever online format. Students dreaming of running their own business competed virtually for prizes, with an enthusiastic response.
