The Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education announced the appointment of Dwayne Smith, PhD to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Housatonic Community College. The announcement was made during the open session of the May 14 Board meeting, which was held virtually and attended by over 320 faculty, staff and students from the twelve Connecticut Community Colleges.
Dr. Smith’s duties as CEO will include serving as the lead campus administrator and on-site operational leader, providing guidance on development and implementation of strategic plans along with budgetary, enrollment, academic and related matters.
“The Campus CEO will provide critical focus, expertise and oversight of all campus functions and infrastructure, while building a strong team of faculty and staff to provide an excellent learning experience for our students,” said Regional President, Thomas Coley, Ph.D. “We look forward to welcoming Dr. Smith to the HCC campus and to working together to serve our students, our community and our region.”
Dr. Smith comes to Housatonic Community College from Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis, where he served as Interim President. Dr. Smith will assume his duties as Campus CEO on July 6, 2020.
