Earlier this week, Fairfield University invited HCC to what is now a joint service to celebrate Jose Labrador, Gisela Gil-Egui and their family..  There were initial plans for HCC to hold our own memorial service on January 19, but at the request of our colleagues at Fairfield, we are joining with them on their upcoming memorial to make travel as easy as possible for Jose’s and Gisela’s families, several of whom who are coming from several states as well as internationally.

A mass will be held on January 25th at 12:00 noon at the Egan Chapel of St. Ignatius Loyola. At 1:00 p.m., a memorial service to celebrate the lives and legacy of Gisela Gil-Egui, her husband, Jose Martin Labrador and their family, will take place at the Quick Center, with a reception immediately following. There will also be an informal gathering beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Levee. 

At a later time in the semester, HCC also plans to hold a community remembrance and will invite Fairfield University to join with us. We will inform the community as soon as the date and time are finalized.
