Hundreds gathered to participate in Housatonic Community College’s 5th annual STEAMfest celebration. With a theme of ‘Helping Everyone Reach For The Stars’, the three-day event, led by the STEAMfest Coordinator Dr. David Platt, held both in-person and virtually on November 8, 9, and 11, was a celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. With opportunities to interact with NASA professionals, among others, the initiative spurred academic passions in those fields.

Crowds Hail New HMA Exhibit Worth The Wait

The long-awaited exhibition “Drip-Drop, Tick-Tock, Here + Now”, opened at the Housatonic Museum of Art (HMA) on October 28 with a packed house. Crowds gathered to view the stunning, yet suggestive multi-media sculptures and paintings by Weston, CT artist Joseph Fucigna after a two year wait thanks to a fire, flood and a pandemic.

For 15 years, Rachel Cain has been a dedicated part of HCC’s Math/Science teaching team. She was initially a part-time Lecturer but is currently Assistant Professor of Biology who teaches Introduction to Biology, General Biology I and General Biology II. The show, originally scheduled in 2018, was canceled a week prior to opening due to water damage from a fire above the gallery. When rescheduled for 2020, the exhibit was postponed yet again due to the pandemic.
