Surgical Technology Information Sessions will be held this month at Housatonic Community College (HCC). The sessions will take place on Tuesday June 12, Thursday, June 14 and Wednesday, June 20. The informational sessions are free and open to the public. Times and location are listed below.

The Surgical Technology program prepares students to be competent entry-level surgical technologists in the cognitive, psychomotor and affective learning domains. Pre-clinical classes taught in a newly constructed operating suite specifically designed for the program feature state of the art technology used in hospitals and surgical clinics. HCC’s Surgical Technology program is based on the guidelines provided by the Association of Surgical Technologists and the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities Board of Regents.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that employment of Surgical Technologists is projected to grow 15% nationally within the next six years. On average, Surgical Technologists make $24.10 hourly. Graduates of HCC’s program will qualify to become certified through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) examination.
