HCC Appoints New Executive Director of Institutional Advancement and Resource Development

By

Bridgeport, Conn. – Housatonic Community College (HCC) announced Nov. 20 that Fiona Hodgson has joined the school as the Executive Director of the HCC Foundation. Hodgson brings more than 30 years of professional experience with a focus on institutional advancement for higher education both here in the United States and the United Kingdom.

“As executive director of HCCF, my role is to build sustainable funding sources to ensure the success of our more than 5,000 students.” Hodgson said. “This is more important than ever in an era of steep state budget cuts.”

Hodgson has held senior positions at Brandeis University, Boston College and Harvard Medical School, where she served as Director of Development for a capital campaign to endow medical research. Since 2012, she has served as Vice President for Development and Philanthropic Services at Fairfield County’s Community Foundation, which supports more than 400 local non-profits.

Hodgson is HCC’s second big hire in recent months and comes at a fitting time. Recently ranked by the Aspen Institute as one of the nation’s top 150 community colleges for 2017, HCC continues to lead the charge in education and innovation.

“Currently, community colleges represent the most creative and fast-growing sector of higher education.” Hodgson said. “HCC is recognized nationally for its innovative ‘student success and retention’ model. Working with a remarkable team of dedicated faculty, staff and alumni under the inspired leadership of President Paul Broadie II PhD., it is a pleasure and privilege to work at HCCF.”
