In the Oscar-shortlisted stop-motion animation film ‘Lost & Found,’ a knitted toy dinosaur must completely unravel itself in order to save the love of its life. With themes of sacrifice and loss, the film’s heart-warming emotionality is presented dialogue-free. Dubbed one of the most impressive stop motion animations of 2019, the film went on to win multiple awards and to become a 2019 Anime Award nominee.
In the award-winning stop-motion animation short ‘Two Balloons’, two adventurous lemurs navigate their dirigibles halfway around the world to a place where happenstance and fate threaten to disrupt their reunion. A film festival favorite, viewers will enjoy the exquisite attention to detail and the flip-book animation within this animation. Winner of the 2019 Best Animation: New Haven International Film Festival and 2019 Audience Favorite: FilmFest52.
Additionally, viewers will enjoy the films ‘How to Make Stop Motion Videos’, ‘Stop Motion Animator’ and ‘Head of Puppetry’ offering a behind-the-scenes look at the fascinating world of stop motion animation.
All films are presented in connection with Housatonic Community College’s (HCC) 4th annual ‘STEAMfest’ virtual event and curated by the Connecticut Film Festival. Each year HCC presents an engaging program to celebrate advances in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. The Virtual STEAMfest 2020 series is presented with significant funding from Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Company and Pitney Bowes.

The Connecticut Film Festival’s (CFF) mission is to excite, encourage, and teach, but most of all to connect audiences in ways that truly ignite creativity and imagination. CFF provides screenings statewide to tens of thousands of Connecticut’s citizens and tourists. Hosting films in multiple markets throughout the state creates an opportunity for a greater number of viewers to attend while also providing an excellent opportunity for the independent and international film industry to showcase to a large and diverse audience. CFF and its weekly event, FilmFest52, exhibits entertaining and thought-provoking visual stories with an independent point of view to inspire audiences to create change locally, globally, or in their personal lives.
