On Thursday, February 8th the Housatonic Museum of Art will present the program, Human Rights Panel Discussion: Out of the Shadows, offering a powerhouse collection of experts on urgent human rights issues.

The Housatonic Museum of Art (HMA) announced today that the Museum has been nominated for The Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) 2019 National Medal of honor.

I want to announce the arrival of a fantastic exhibit I’m hosting at Beacon Hall as part of my 2015 Honors Seminar Connecticut Uncovered. Sponsored by the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame, the exhibit consists of 40 portraits of educators, businesswomen, social leaders and other trailblazing women who have improved life in our state over the past couple hundred years.  I spent all day Friday hanging the portraits, with the expert help and guidance of Prof. Andy Pinto, and I now have a newfound appreciation for museum and gallery workers everywhere!

Artists can explore, reflect, extrapolate or rearrange in any number of ways, the barrage of endless data from hard news to social media that we all must navigate, initiate or muddle through each day.

The Housatonic Museum of Art presents Anna Held Audette: Requiem for the Industrial Age, on view in the Burt Chernow Galleries, 900 Lafayette Blvd., Bridgeport, Connecticut, from June 12 – July 25, 2014 with a reception open to the public on Thursday, June 12th from 5 – 7 pm. 

Twenty-eight of Mia Brownell’s paintings will be on display at the Housatonic Museum of Art in the Burt Chernow Galleries from September 25th thought November 17, 2014.
