Cancer Cure: From Man's Best Friend to Mankind

By

The talk will be about his research on a therapeutic canine cancer vaccine. He is currently doing clinical trails of his canine vaccine in conjunction with The Veterinary Cancer Center in Norwalk. IT will take place on October 27th from 1-2pm in the Beacon Hall Events Center.

Yes, it may be possible to cure cancer in our lifetime! The Math/Science department is excited to sponsor a public talk by a Yale School of Medicine professor, Dr. Mark Mamula, on his research in developing a therapeutic cancer vaccine for dogs. If the clinical trials of this vaccine works well for canines, human clinical trails could be next for those with several types of cancer, including breast and colon cancer.

Dr. Mamula has been featured in MSNBC's The Cycle, the New Haven Register, and News Channel 8. Dr. Mamula's wife, Ann Nyberg of News Channel 8, has agreed to help Housatonic get the word out about this event but we need your help too.

You do not need to be a science enthusiast to understand the importance of this research that is being conducted right here in Connecticut. Everyone is welcomed to attend this event. Please share this information with your students and encourage them to attend this important and quite possibly historic event. The Math/Science department will be offering an extra credit assignment to our students to encourage them to attend. You may also want to incorporate this event into your class curriculum.

Please help us get the word out to make this a true community event.
