HCC receives recognition from Savannah College of Art and Design

By

The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) recently signed a transfer agreement with Housatonic Community College (HCC) paving a path for students to transfer to SCAD.

SCAD, one of the premier art and design colleges in the country, has received accolades from Businessweek, U.S. News & World Report and the Los Angeles Times for their courses in photography, interior design and mobile app design among others.

“I can see how HCC’s mission and values foster student success.” Laura Kennedy, Executive Director of Admission Enrollment for SCAD said. “Housatonic is truly a special place.”

SCAD is dedicated to giving students and faculty the opportunity to collaborate with a number of brands for “design-based concepts” such as NASA, Coca-Cola and Google. It is because of this dedication to excellence and education that SCAD saw HCC as a natural match.

“We (SCAD) have a very limited number of signed articulation transfer agreements because it’s rare that we find institutions with curriculums that align with our sequence and prepare students for success at SCAD.” Kennedy said. “HCC has had a number of students come to SCAD within the past few years and they’ve been able to transfer much more credit than the average transfer student and have performed quite well.”
