The Major Experience coming to HCC

By

Housatonic Community College (HCC) will host The Major Experience–a comprehensive workshop that includes academic guidance, career assessment and future career exploration by HCC faculty and staff. The event will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 17 in the Lafayette Atrium from 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. The Major Experience is free and open to the public.

According to The Princeton Review, there are three important factors when considering a major: Career preparation, earning potential and interest in a particular field. HCC currently offers over 75 career-focused programs designed for flexible schedules.

The Major Experience includes a detailed walkthrough of “Focus 2”, HCC’s online career planning tool, available for free to high school students and families.

“This is a unique experience perfect for high school seniors or those looking to return to school.” Assistant Director of Admissions Bernie Shea said. “Our faculty can personally provide prospective students with the guidance and information about course offerings and prerequisites for their future majors.”

HCC offers over 75 career-focused programs perfect for students of any age and background. Members of the public are welcome to stop by and see why HCC was recently ranked among the top 150 community colleges in the nation by the Aspen InstituteTM.
