Hundreds gathered to participate in Housatonic Community College’s 5th annual STEAMfest celebration. With a theme of ‘Helping Everyone Reach For The Stars’, the three-day event, led by the STEAMfest Coordinator Dr. David Platt, held both in-person and virtually on November 8, 9, and 11, was a celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. With opportunities to interact with NASA professionals, among others, the initiative spurred academic passions in those fields.

The long-awaited exhibition “Drip-Drop, Tick-Tock, Here + Now”, opened at the Housatonic Museum of Art (HMA) on October 28 with a packed house. Crowds gathered to view the stunning, yet suggestive multi-media sculptures and paintings by Weston, CT artist Joseph Fucigna after a two year wait thanks to a fire, flood and a pandemic.

With one of the most outstanding advanced manufacturing technology training centers in the state, Housatonic Community College (HCC) celebrated Manufacturing Month with a series of exciting happenings last month, including a new partnership with FuelCell Energy in Torrington, CT.

Housatonic Community College (HCC), area churches and Griffin Health have joined forces to help increase Bridgeport’s COVID-19 vaccination rate. Together the organizations have created popup vaccination clinics offering both vaccinations and boosters in the coming weeks..

The Connecticut Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) named Dwayne Smith, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer of Housatonic Community College (HCC) among the 100 Most Influential Blacks in the State of Connecticut in an October 23rd awards ceremony at Foxwoods Casino.

A new exhibit opening on October 28 at the Housatonic Museum of Art is aptly named DRIP-DROP, TICK-TOCK, HERE + NOW. The show, originally scheduled in 2018, was canceled a week prior to opening due to water damage from a fire above the gallery. When rescheduled for 2020, the exhibit was postponed yet again due to the pandemic.

On Thursday, September 23, Housatonic Community College (HCC) marked the beginning of the academic school year with its first-ever Convocation and Rite of Passage Ceremony. The gathering, which took place on the college’s downtown Bridgeport campus courtyard, allowed students to affirm their commitment to their educational journeys.

Housatonic Community College (HCC), an Achieving the Dream Leader Institution, is the recipient of a $1 million donation from philanthropist and business owner, Peter J. Werth Jr. It is the largest gift from an individual in school history, and will establish the Werth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center.
