CT Youth Count 2018 Aims to Identify Number of Homeless Youth

By

HCC, in partnership with The Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness (CCEH) is again asking for help in this year’s Youth Count, an initiative designed to identify homeless and unstably housed youth.

Between 9–11 a.m., 1-3 p.m., 5-7 p.m., Jan 25 – 30, volunteers will be on campus providing surveys designed to collect information on student’s housing status. The data collected will be used by the CCEH to better assist and support those affected as well train service providers to identify and help those in need.

According to the CCEH, more than 4,500 CT residents are homeless on any given night, with 1-in-5 being children. In 2017, Youth Count estimated that over 4,000 youth between the ages of 13-24 met the criteria for being homeless or unstably housed.

The surveys will be available at the following locations on campus through Jan 30:

Lafayette Hall Welcome Center

Lafayette Hall Broad Street Entrance

Lafayette Hall Cafeteria

Academic Support Center

HCC Library

Beacon Hall, 1st floor

Beacon Hall, 3rd floor

Beacon Hall Cafeteria
