Housatonic Museum of Art to Open Jon Schueler Abstract Expressionism Show
The Housatonic Museum of Art is proud to announce the opening of a new exhibit, Lost Man Blues: Jon Schueler – Art and War, curated by Marissa Roth. The show will feature twenty-six paintings and selected writings by the esteemed, prolific American abstract expressionist that reflect his war experiences. The exhibition, which takes its title from a piece commemorating the disappearance of a plane belongs to his squadron, will open on September 2 and be on view through October 8, 2021. Curator Marissa Roth will offer a talk about the artist’s work on Thursday, September 2 at 6pm.

An interview with Robin Avant, Dean of Academic Affairs
Dean Robin Avant started preparing for her vocation at age six, when she taught and gave exams to her collection of teddy-bear pupils. A lasting passion and a lifetime of educational preparation for her role as an HCC professor and ultimately Dean of Academic Affairs ensued, and she’s not nearly done.

$500,000 Gift Given to Housatonic Museum of Art by Werth Family Foundation
The Housatonic Museum of Art (HMA) today announced a landmark gift of $500,000 from the Werth Family Foundation. The donation represents the largest contribution from a single donor in the history of the museum to date and will establish an endowment.

Housatonic Community College Foundation and Bank of America Announce New Support for Manufacturing Pipeline Program in Bridgeport
The Housatonic Community College (HCC) Foundation was recently awarded a $15,000 grant from Bank of America to help support the community college’s Advanced Manufacturing Program, which trains and helps place women in manufacturing jobs.
