About the Presenters:

GRETCHEN GUIDESS is the Assistant Conservator of Objects & Textiles at the Williamstown Art Conservation Center in Williamstown, MA. She graduated from the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation, completing a M.Sc. in textile conservation with a concentration in preventive conservation studies. As part of her third year curriculum she completed internships at the New York State Bureau of Historic Sites/Peebles Island Resource Center, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the Canadian Conservation Institute. Following graduation she was the 2010 - 2012 Mellon Fellow at Historic New England.

NANCY VALLEY is Senior Museum Technician at Yale University Art Gallery. Nancy has been point person on countless art installations and art packing projects, and has helped see the collection through some major museum renovation and storage relocations. At this time, the Yale Art Gallery is moving a major portion of their collection to a new Study Storage facility.

She serves as the primary Art Handling Trainer for the Gallery’s program for training all new employees in basic art handling. New employees are required to attend this training program in order for the Gallery to be prepared to react to sudden institutional emergencies.
