A total of 53 College Career Pathways students attended
35 Housatonic Community College students participated in the symposium.
The symposium had an inter-disciplinary focus on health and nutrition for teachers of young children.
Students enrolled in ECIE 207 Science, Safety, Nutrition, and Math and ECIE 295 Student Teaching Practicum manned the interactive booths and provided hands-on demonstrations and explained the linkage of the activity to developmentally appropriate learning outcomes.
Educational standards that were modeled during the fair included the following: fine motor skills, scientific inquiry, sorting, using content knowledge, learning how to lead activities for children.
Students received lesson plans, resource materials, and books on nutrition.
The symposium provided a direct connection between Housatonic Community College students and high school students from Bullard-Havens and Central High schools. Students left the symposium with a wealth of activities that they can model for preschool children that they work with.
