Housatonic Community College (HCC), area churches and Griffin Health have joined forces to help increase Bridgeport’s COVID-19 vaccination rate. Together the organizations have created popup vaccination clinics offering both vaccinations and boosters in the coming weeks..

November Enroll In A Day Event at Housatonic Community College

Housatonic Community College CEO, Dwayne Smith, Named Among the NAACPs 100 Most Influential Blacks in Connecticut
The Connecticut Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) named Dwayne Smith, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer of Housatonic Community College (HCC) among the 100 Most Influential Blacks in the State of Connecticut in an October 23rd awards ceremony at Foxwoods Casino.

Fire, Flood and Pandemic Will Not Deter New Exhibit at Housatonic Museum of Art
A new exhibit opening on October 28 at the Housatonic Museum of Art is aptly named DRIP-DROP, TICK-TOCK, HERE + NOW. The show, originally scheduled in 2018, was canceled a week prior to opening due to water damage from a fire above the gallery. When rescheduled for 2020, the exhibit was postponed yet again due to the pandemic.

New Exhibit at the Housatonic Museum of Art Explores Male Dominance Of Women Throughout The Ages
Housatonic Museum of Art is pleased to present its newest exhibition, Of Woman Born, now on view through June 1, 2022. It features a selection of paintings, photographs and sculpture that explores the ways in which male dominance has manifested itself in familial, social, legal, political, religious and economic systems—patriarchal structures that, over the centuries, have continually been used to dominate, oppress and exploit women.

HCC Art Professor Lydia Viscardi Opens New Show on August 28
Housatonic Community College (HCC) studio art adjunct professor Lydia Viscardi will present “Here and Hereafter,” a solo exhibition of mixed media painting and works on paper at Five Points Gallery from August 28 – October 3, 2020. The gallery, located at 33 Main St. in Torrington, CT, is free and open to the public Friday - Sunday from 1-5pm and by appointment. A Virtual Tour can be found on the Five Points Gallery website when the show opens and an Artists Talk will take place via zoom mid-September. New Exhibit at HMA: The Hypogean Tip by Rachel Owens
A new exhibit with connections to our local history is opening at the Housatonic Museum of Art on February 6, 2020. Entitled “The Hypogean Tip”, artist Rachel Owens’ exhibit explores both Bridgeport’s and our larger nation’s past, and will run from February 6 through March 21, 2020.
